Job Searching: It's a Numbers Game

"It's a numbers game!" said my brother as he ran his optimized job search. "I enter various key words into the search engine and apply to almost every job that has been posted on most of the major job boards—I applied for 200 jobs today!" How does one apply for 200 hundred jobs in less then 5 minutes a day?

More and more, career development services seem to be popping up everywhere. From traditional recruiters catering to every industry to new creative services that stream line the application process providing more time effective methodologies.

Clearly technological advancement has taken the art of job searching to a new level. First the internet age eliminated sending out paper resumes and now online application options are only increasing. Much is changing. Time consuming tasks such as researching companies, finding career opportunities and applying accordingly are slowly becoming unnecessary as fee-based job search optimization services grow more popular. Various services such as Resume Rabbit and My Job Hunter will search for opportunities or post resumes on almost every single job board available. Job seekers need only input key words relevant to positions of interest and press enter accessing hundreds of job opportunities that otherwise may have taken days to gather. Not to mention, the application process is even less time consuming. Instead of copying and pasting a resume for each job and personalizing each cover letter, they can apply to all generated jobs with one key stroke, not only sending out applications that may have taken months worth of effort but also skip personalizing cover letters—the customization is automatic.

It is a numbers game after all. It is basic math. The more jobs one applies to the higher the probability of finding a match. Moreover, the less people aware of such services the greater the competitive edge for those who use them. Nonetheless, it is only a matter of time before most job seekers start utilizing such services in an effort to stay in the game. Technology is advancing rapidly posing difficulty for many to stay at the forefront of technology—As for those who find themselves there they won't necessarily be there for long.

Nevertheless, this may be an optimal time to explore fee-based optimization job search services. A small monetary investment at the right time may very well be worth the competitive edge while it lasts. Landing a six figure job for a small fee seems to be a great return on the investment. Likewise increasing the chance of finding the job that you love—definitely priceless.
